Fire Permits:
The N.H. Forest Protection Bureau is encouraging anyone seeking a fire permit in New Hampshire to use the state’s online fire permit system in order to maintain social distancing that has been recommended by the Center for Disease Control as a way of reducing the spread of COVID-19.
Fire permits (both daily and seasonal) may be obtained at the Fire Department during normal business hours. Fire permits are required for any recreational burning during the spring, summer and fall months. Fire permits are not required during the winter months as long as there is sufficient snow cover (defined as at least 2” deep in 100’ any direction from the center of the fire); a courtesy call to the Fire Department when burning during the winter months is appreciated. Below please find documents pertaining to fire permits:
Click here for the Landowner Permission Form:
A landowner permission form is required for any open burning on land that is not owned by the permit holder. The form must completely filled out EACH TIME permission is granted for burning (except in the cases of seasonal permissions). This form is PDF fillable and can be electronically signed and submitted. You may also fill out the form, print it, and return it in-person, by email, or by fax. They are also available in person at the Fire Department.

Permitting
(prior to beginning work):
- The Selectmen's Office requires submission of a Building Permit Application (for any installation or reinstallation of any fossil fuel, propane, electrical or interior wood fired heating systems) which can be obtained either at their office, or printed from the Town's website by going to "Info Center", "Building Permits" (completing the portions noted in Blue text).
- A separate permit (below) is required by the Fire Department.
Below are links to the LP/Natural Gas Permit, Oil Burner Permit, Pressure Test Affidavit, and a Wood/Pellet Appliance Permit. These forms are PDF fillable and can be electronically signed and submitted. You may also fill out the form, print it, and return it in-person, by email to inspections@new-hampton.nh.us, or by fax. They are also available in person at the Fire Department.
* IMPORTANT: Installation or reinstallation of any fossil fuel, electrical or interior wood fired heating systems, regardless of the size of the building, shall require a Building Permit (Selectmen's Office), and the appropriate Fire Department permit/affidavit below, followed by an inspection and approval for any fossil fuel or interior wood-fired heating system.
